The Production Equipment is Finally Here!

Hello everyone!

On this Tuesday, March 26th, we reached an incredible milestone at the Distillerie des Cantons: our whisky production equipment is finally in the building!

The riggers (heavy hauling and installation specialists) just left the site. They did a phenomenal job unloading our equipment from the massive flatbed trucks that came all the way from British Columbia. It was truly impressive to watch the techniques they used to maneuver and place everything perfectly—especially since it was a very tight fit with the overhead ventilation!

Here is a breakdown of what just arrived:

The Brewing and Cleaning Equipment

Right behind me is all the brewing equipment we will use to make the wash (or "beer") for our whisky:

  • The Water Tanks: The massive Hot Liquor Tank and Cold Liquor Tank.

  • The CIP (Clean in Place) System: This is our integrated cleaning system. It will allow us to efficiently clean and sanitize all of our equipment after running a batch of whisky.

The Grain Room and Milling Equipment

We also received a lot of heavy-duty equipment (the large orange structures) for handling materials in the grain room:

  • The Super Sack Supports: Heavy-duty frames designed to hold our massive bulk bags of grain.

  • The Mills (Roller Mill and Hammer Mill): Still in their boxes, these are the machines that will crush and mill our barley and rye.

  • The Milled Grain Hopper: Once the grain is milled according to our recipe, it will be stored in this large tank. From there, piping will go straight through the upper wall to feed the grain directly into our brewing tanks to create our wort.

It is incredibly motivating to see the setup finally taking shape. I will leave you with a bit of video footage from this massive installation day.

Until next time!

  • Martin
